The Mike Salt Gallery

Mike Salt contacted the Society after reading the Meeting notes of the 2016 Annual General Meeting and sent two of his own photographs which he took around 35 years ago which show the “Wickenstone Farm” from both sides.

Mike is a professional artist who grew up in Biddulph and who sketched and painted the buildings and countryside around 30 years ago.

Mike went to Kingsfield Primary School, Biddulph Grammar School (which then became Woodhouse Middle School), Biddulph High School, Leek Art college, before going on to study at university.

He now lives in Northamptonshire but his father William Salt, still lives in Biddulph. His Dad and both Grandads were coal miners working at Victoria and Chatterley Whitfield Colliery.

He has sent a few examples of his paintings of scenes from around Biddulph and Biddulph Moor which can be seen in the Mike Salt Gallery.

Mike is visiting Biddulph later this year to do some preliminary sketches for some new landscape paintings of this area. If you have any suggestions of buildings or local views that Mike could paint then please contact the Society who will forward your ideas to him.

His website is: msalt@onecreate.co.uk
